Corchado attends the presentation of the documentary tribute to Muñoz-Torrero in the Congress of Deputies

The rector of the University of Salamanca, Juan Manuel Corchado, attends the presentation of the documentary “The four burials of Muñoz Torrero”, in tribute to Muñoz-Torrero in the Congress of Deputies, who was rector of the University of Salamanca and “father of the Constitution of Cádiz of 1812”.

The documentary analyzes the importance of Muñoz Torrero, as well as the influence that Magna Carta had in Europe and America, the reasons why it was never sufficiently known and the mysterious death of its protagonist in Portugal, where he had to flee in 1823 after the return of Ferdinand VII. The film traces the life of this man from Extremadura who held the position of president of the commission and who is considered responsible for establishing national sovereignty, separation of powers and freedom of the press in Spain.

It should be noted that the University of Salamanca paid tribute to Muñoz-Torrero in December 2018 as part of the events organized to commemorate the VIII Centenary of the founding of the Salamanca Studio.

The event ended with a performance by Luis Pastor, the historic singer-songwriter who voices Muñoz Torrero in the film.
