The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued a health alert after detecting the presence of undeclared sesame on the labeling of two lots of dried tofu appetizers from China. The warning is especially directed at people allergic to this seed, for whom there is a risk in case of consumption, according to EP.
The notification has been communicated through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI) and transferred by the health authorities of the Community of Madrid. The AESAN insists that this product does not pose any danger to the rest of the population.
The food affected according to EP is marketed under the brand ‘Zhejiang Laoba Foodstuff’, in 100 gram plastic containers that are stored at room temperature. The lots involved are 251217, with a best-before date of August 17, 2026, and 250928, with a best-before date of May 28, 2026.
The authorities have already activated the protocols to remove the affected lots from the market. As a precautionary measure, they recommend people with a sesame allergy to avoid consuming this product if they have it at home.
