The La Covatilla Ski Resort began its white baptism season this Thursday, allowing schoolchildren to learn to ski and get in touch with the snow. It was the students of the Ramón Olleros high school in Bejarano who opened the activity that will continue next week with students from the Bejaran schools of Nuestra Señora del Castañar and Filiberto Villalobos. These three centers have accessed the program independently since the Béjar City Council has offered the initiative outside of the Provincial Council’s call so that all children can access the ski slopes.
The start of the program will mean that the kids will constantly occupy the beginner slopes over the next few weeks, since starting on the 22nd, schoolchildren from the province and Cáceres will arrive at the station, more than a thousand, spread over the next few weeks. The program remains to be confirmed with the Salamanca City Council, with whom they are waiting to arrange students and teachers for the classes, according to the ski resort’s delegate councillor, Javier Garrido.
