The residents of the Río la Llana Urbanization, in La Alberca, have gone up in arms over the installation next to their homes of the new clean point that will serve the Sierra de Francia Commonwealth. They assure that the proximity to the homes and, above all, the danger of the access road to the urbanization are sufficient reasons to look for another location for these facilities that are financed by the Environment Department of the Board and that already have environmental authorization.
The La Alberca City Council has transferred the land for the installation of the infrastructure that will serve La Alberca, San Miguel de Robledo, Las Casas del Conde, Cepeda, Garcibuey, Herguijuela de la Sierra, Madroñal, Miranda del Castañar, Mogarraz, Monforte de la Sierra, San Martín del Castañar, Sequeros, Sotoserrano, Valero and Villanueva del Conde.
The neighbors have already put up banners against the installation and claim that the access road to the urbanization is dangerous since it has two very sharp curves that “make the cars have to access very carefully and even maneuver” so they do not understand why this location has been chosen “with the increase in traffic and trucks that it will mean for the area.”
The homes are about 12 meters away from the installation, which ensures that the visual and auditory impact will be a constant nuisance for the neighbors.
Given this situation, those affected have called a meeting this Saturday starting at 5:00 p.m.
La Alberca clean point plans
The clean point project
The project published by the Junta de Castilla y León foresees its location on plots 45 and 47 of the Rustic Industrial Estate 10 in the municipality of La Alberca. With a total area of 4,576 m2, the project sets a distance from the consolidated urban land of La Alberca of 475 meters and adjacent to the urban land of the Río La Llana Urbanization. The clean point will occupy an approximate area of 2,780 m2.
The project includes the installation of eight 20m3 capacity containers for the storage of bulky waste: non-packaging plastics, metals, wood, pruning remains, construction waste based on plaster and for mixed waste, furniture and fixtures, and mattresses and bed bases. In addition, under the canopies of the clean point, other storage areas will be installed for waste such as oils or greases, batteries, automotive oils, chemical waste, containers of dangerous substances, metal containers or LED lamps, as well as WEEE waste (monitors, air conditioners or computer components). It will also have an open area with containers for packaging, paper, glass and clothing.
