The last phase of the comprehensive renovation of the Aldebarán supply network begins, in Santa Marta

The Santa Marta City Council has started the works to renew pipes in the Aldebarán urbanization. These are the sections that are missing to complete the complete renovation of the water supply network in the urbanization. Works that will mean the end of breakdowns in areas that still had fiber cement pipes and that the service will be completely updated.

Specifically, and thanks to an investment of 338,951 euros that will be paid for thanks to the Biennial Cooperation Plan of the Provincial Council of Salamanca, ductile iron pipes are being placed on Perseo, Polar, Centauro, Mizar, Osa Mayor, Osa Menor, Auriga and Avenida Aldebarán Oeste and Este streets; a total stretch of 2 kilometers with which the renewal of the supply is completed.

“We continue to advance in the modernization of the network throughout the town, a project that we carry out gradually but that is almost a reality. In the case of Aldebarán, in a few weeks the entire service will be rehabilitated, minimizing the risk of incidents that occurred due to the age of the pipes,” said David Mingo during his visit to the works.

The works include the lifting of roads and sidewalks to proceed with the excavation of trenches and the pouring of sand for the installation of the new pipes. The valves, drains, hydrants and connections necessary in these sections will also be installed to subsequently proceed to fill in the ditch, make connections to the supply network, and replace the affected roads and sidewalks.
