This Thursday afternoon, the Santa Marta de Tormes Adult Education Center held a multidisciplinary activity focused on coexistence and practical learning, under the title “Fish and Chips.” The initiative was attended by the provincial director of Education, Ángel Morín, and the Councilor for Education, Juani Rubio.
The main objective of the day, as explained by the director of the center, Juan Turrión, is to promote the life of the students beyond the classrooms, promoting meeting spaces between different disciplines. On this occasion, the activity has united two of the teachings taught at the center: cooking and English.
The 26 students of the cooking course were in charge of preparing one of the most representative dishes of British gastronomy, which they later served to classmates from other classes, including nearly 80 English students. In this way, culinary learning was combined with language practice.
Turrión highlighted that this type of proposals contribute to motivating the students and giving visibility to the center, which mainly welcomes residents of Santa Marta de Tormes and its surroundings, although it also has students from Salamanca, Sardón de los Frailes and even from towns in the province of Zamora.
Currently, the Santa Marta de Tormes Adult Education Center has a total of 240 enrollments, consolidating itself as a benchmark in permanent training in the area.
