Alumni recognizes young talent beyond grades

Tuesday, April 21, 2026, 10:57 p.m.

Aris Athanasiadis could not be at the Liceo Theater yesterday to collect the first prize in the Social Sciences category. The reason: I was doing an internship at the Spanish Embassy in Athens. The same thing happened to Pablo Santos, in the Engineering category, who had to follow him by streaming through YouTube.

Alumni-University of Salamanca held the second edition of the Young Talent Awards with almost 800 applications presented in the five areas of knowledge among current students and graduates. “We want to recognize young talent, not in the abstract, but in concrete skills that require time and predisposition,” acknowledged the vice-rector for Students, Marta Gutiérrez Sastre. Along the same lines, the Alumni advisor and president of Global Exchange, Isidoro Alanís, highlighted the success of the Friendly Companies program, which has become a benchmark throughout the country with almost a hundred member companies that already offer 200 scholarships with the goal of achieving 400 before the end of the year. The president of the Economic and Social Council, Enrique Cabero, recalled that Alumni has already become an absolute reference throughout Spain and the institution he directs has issued a report in which his important contribution stands out.
