The Christus magazine for Holy Week in Salamanca hits the streets one more year three days before Friday of Sorrows. A number that focuses on the Seraphic Brotherhood of Nazarenes of the Christ of Agony for its centenary.
The publication of the Holy Week Board of Salamanca offers a large number of reports and interviews that highlight this tradition through all the processions that parade through the capital of Tormes on these dates.
Through the documentation work of José María Hernández Pérez, readers will learn the ins and outs of the launch of the La Seráfica brotherhood by the former Patronal del Comercio, recounting what their first processional steps were like.
This publication also analyzes the development of the brotherhood heritage of Salamanca, this year with the recovery of Christ with the Cross of the Congregation of the Holy Trinity and takes into account the changes in the governing boards of the Salamanca brotherhoods. High-quality images of the exceptional Dolorosa by Salvador Carmona are shared with readers, a work that remains closed in the convent of the Augustinian Recollect mothers and was part of that first Holy Thursday outing in 1926; Some images of the primitive El Prendimiento pass have also been located, made in papier-mâché by Ángel Cantos with inspiration from Salzillo.
At the same time, the appearance of the key names of Damián Villar, Soriano Montagut and González Macías is included, as well as the launch of their subsidiary brotherhood, that of the Santísimo Cristo del Perdón when 30 years have passed since the definitive transfer from the provincial prison to the Topas Penitentiary Center.
These pages also include part of what was the proclamation of this 2026 by the Jesuit Daniel Cuesta; One of the brothers, Vicente Díez, is given a voice; and the author of the Holy Week 2026 poster, David Gómez Rollán; Voice is also given to stories such as that of Jesús González, the authentic guardian between the candles of San Martín or Ángel Luis Iglesias, a painter of the soul who has captivated visitors to the Ages of Man in Zamora with his striking vision of the Crucified Christ.
The kilometers of the La Expiración Musical Group, as well as the inclusive presence of Mario Hernández as counterguide of the Brotherhood of Jesus Friend of the Children, the Cuadrado family, which accumulates four generations under the rods of the Flagelado and Nuestra Señora de las Lágrimas or Patricia Alaguero, the first woman to carry the Christ of Light and Our Lady of Wisdom on her shoulders, also appear in the issue of this magazine that will be available this week in the Office Municipal Tourism of the Plaza Mayor.
