More than a thousand judokas from Castilla y León will visit Salamanca this Sunday, March 8, for the XI Doryoku Championship that will take place in the Würzburg Silvia Domínguez municipal pavilion.
The championship called ‘Irene Martín Ruano’, in permanent tribute to her memory and her family, under the motto ‘Effort is the best reward’ will bring together 1,023 judokas and will take place on 26 simultaneous tatami mats, with the participation of 40 black belt judges from the club and the collaboration of 150 volunteers.
The Councilor for Sports, Almudena Parres, together with the technical director of Judo Club Doryoku, Fernando Díaz, as well as the sports coordinator, Ricardo Martín, presented the tournament this Monday morning at the Salamanca City Hall expressing that “these events generate an important impact on the Salamanca economy.”
The judokas who will participate come from municipalities such as Carbajosa de la Sagrada, Cabrerizos and Castellanos de Moriscos, as well as from Ponferrada with ages between 4 and 16 years old.
Judokas with visual and intellectual disabilities and judokas with autism participate in this XI Doryukp Championship, fully integrated into the development of the championship along with the rest of their colleagues.
