Salamanca City Council reinforces access due to the influx of unauthorized vehicles

The Salamanca City Council has reinforced pedestrian zone signage in points of the city where greater access by unauthorized vehicles has been recorded. With new markings on the ground, drivers will be informed starting this Monday that they are entering the restricted area and thus avoid penalties.

The new signage consists of a large white sign painted on the floor of the entrances to the central area as “Pedestrian zone” with the image of a video camera next to it to indicate that this access has a built-in surveillance camera and, therefore, you can be fined for entering without permission.

The objective, according to the Salamanca City Council, is that the signage is visible and does not cause confusion for drivers since until now at those points the entrance to the pedestrian zone was indicated with a vertical sign. A measure with which the City Council intends to reinforce signage so that drivers are aware that they are accessing a restricted area and may be fined.

The new signage has already been painted in the early hours of this Monday on roads such as Bientocadas, Villar y Macías, Luis Hernández Contreras and Plaza del Campillo streets, where despite the fact that the asphalt disappears and changes to a brick floor that marks the access to this area, numerous unauthorized accesses are recorded. Previously, painting had already been carried out in Cuesta de Oviedo, Crespo Rascón and Correhuela. In the rest of the accesses it will be set between this Monday and Tuesday.
