Carmen Muñoz González, graduate in Biological Sciences from the University of Salamanca, has been appointed by the Secretary General of INTERPOL as the new Director of Counterterrorism of the International Criminal Police Organization.
The commissioner presented her candidacy last year and was selected in December. Her knowledge in the area of the fight against terrorism and her experience as head of the INTERPOL Madrid NCB have been decisive in appointing her to the position she will occupy at the beginning of March.
Carmen Muñoz will have the responsibility of leading, developing and coordinating management personnel and resources to meet the operational needs of the 196 member countries. These are related to the dismantling of terrorist networks, the challenges involved in maritime security and CBRN threats.
