Santa Marta installs a radar on the A-50 near Capuchinos

The Santa Marta de Tormes City Council has installed a radar box on the A50, at the height of the Capuchinos commercial area in order to control the access speed on this section until the Las Llaves roundabout. Although a box has been installed, the radar will not be new, since the objective of the traffic area is for the speedometer to move between this location and the N501 at the height of the Regio. Therefore, both boxes will share the measurement system, since the City Council assures that the objective is not revenue collection, but that measurements have been made that indicate that at this point more than fifty percent of the vehicles exceed the permitted speed. In fact, during the time that a pedagogical radar has been installed, high or very high speeds have been recorded in this section.

The City Council assures that it will take a while for it to be operational, estimating at least two months before it starts operating. For now, this Wednesday the box has been installed and the radar warning signage remains to be installed as a deterrent measure for drivers.
