The Santa Marta de Tormes City Council is already in the final administrative procedures to complete the tender for an ambitious project that contemplates the comprehensive reform of the La Fontana urbanization.
This action, according to municipal sources, will involve a total investment of 1,178,626 euros, an amount that the City Council will cover thanks to the remaining treasury. The main objective, these same sources indicate, is to modernize the key infrastructure of this residential area, focusing efforts on paving roads, renewing the pipe network and updating public lighting.
The mayor of the municipality, David Mingo, has pointed out the importance of this intervention, describing it as “a work of great significance for Santa Marta.” As he added, the project also seeks to transform and improve the basic services of the area, which will directly improve the quality of life of the nearly 2,000 residents who reside in the 548 inhabited houses of the urbanization.
Regarding paving, the project will allocate 654,938 euros to pave the streets that are in the greatest state of deterioration; In fact, the work will focus especially on the three sections that include Edinburgh Avenue, Fontana Avenue, La Serna Avenue and the Parque Fluvial promenade.
Likewise, the asphalting plan will extend to a wide list made up of the streets Florence, Naples, Siena, Bologna, Genoa, The Hague, Amsterdam, Salzburg, Baden Baden, Coimbra, Cascais, Sintra and Estoril.
Simultaneously, a major renovation of the underground pipes will be carried out with the aim of optimizing the water cycle and avoiding possible breakdowns. This phase of the works has a budget of 477,688 euros and will once again affect the nerve centers of the development: sections I, II and III of Edinburgh Avenue and La Fontana and La Serna avenues.
Finally, the intervention will culminate with a sum of 46,000 euros destined to improve lighting in inhabited areas.
