Unión del Pueblo Leonés (UPL) demands the creation of a headquarters of the National Museum of Sculpture in Ciudad Rodrigo, stating that “it would be a shock and a great benefit for Ciudad Rodrigo” that would allow the return of the sculptural complex ‘El Calvario’ by Juan de Juni, which has been located in Valladolid for two decades.
From UPL they report that there was a temporary return of the work in 2006 for the exhibition ‘The artistic environment of Juan de Juni’, organized by the Ministry at the Palacio de los Águila in Ciudad Rodrigo, although after its completion, the work was transferred again to Valladolid. Something that from this party represents “a contempt towards Ciudad Rodrigo.”
For this reason, they propose the creation of a headquarters for the National Museum of Sculpture in which the work of ‘El Calvario’ can be exhibited along with others owned or transferred by the State. Something they consider “perfectly feasible.”
Additionally and as part of their electoral program, they demand that the amount allocated to the Miróbriga Theater Fair be increased, which they say “requires adequate financing that takes into account the increase in costs in recent years to ensure its continuity and quality.” They demand “greater involvement” from the Board and that they stop “freezing” the amount destined for the fair.
“The increase in costs is not being taken into account, repeating the same assignment by the Board year after year, which poses more and more difficulties for companies to be able to participate in this fair in Ciudad Rodrigo,” they conclude.
