Guijuelo is about to put the finishing touch to his Typical slaughter of this year. Although he will not miss the appointment this Saturday February 28 the Association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago de Fuenterroble (Acasan), as protagonists of one of the most emblematic moments of these festivities: the parade of the muleteers.
The event, which combines history, gastronomy and popular culturewill feature the display of the association’s traditional cars, from the emblematic ham and wine cellar carts even those destined for craftrecreating a picture of other times.
The appointment will begin at 10:00 a.m.from Fuenterroble, when the muleteers and their carts will travel along the traditional path until their entrance into Guijuelo. Your walk will culminate in the Plaza de Castilla y Leónwhich will become the epicenter of the festival by hosting the last massacre of the season. In addition, the muleteers’ carts will remain in said plaza. until 2:00 p.m.so that all visitors can appreciate them.
Participation is open to all citizens. Of course, to anyone who is willing to maintain historical rigor that makes up the aesthetics of the day: visible marks on both clothing and footwear should be avoided and it is recommended white blouses and long skirts for women and black or brown pants for men.
At 12:00 hours the muleteer proclamation will take placeto the sound of the bagpipes and the drum and accompanied by brandy and perrunillas. During the day, Nacho Sandoval, president of the Cofrade Mayor, representing the Brotherhood of Madrid stew, will be named honorary Matanzas; Diego García Azpíroz, CEO of Grupo Pescaderías Coruñesas; María Jamardo: journalist, Head of Courts at El Debate; Ángela Banzas, finalist writer for the 2025 Planeta Prize; and Toni Monserra, writer. After the massacre, at 1:30 p.m., the a tasting for solidarity purposes and at 2:00 p.m. it will be slaughter food.
