The Botanical Garden of Salamanca is preparing for its renovation with new routes and accessible spaces

The Salamanca City Council has awarded the project to recondition the Botanical Archaeological Park with a budget of 164,815 euros and a completion period of three months, with the aim of improving the tourist experience and highlighting one of the most significant spaces in the city from a historical and archaeological point of view. The action is part of the Salamanca Tourism Sustainability Plan, which seeks to connect tourism with the local economy and promote its development in a transversal manner.

He project It includes the repair and maintenance of vegetation and paths, the replacement of wooden curbs with steel curbs, the creation of a new path that connects with the exhibition area, the restitution of braided cable railings and the planting of native species of trees and shrubs. In addition, the park’s lighting will be improved by replacing projectors, installing new light points and increasing general lighting in the green area.

The refurbishment will transform the park, which spans from the 4th century BC to the present day and has been the scene of the lives of historical figures such as Fray Luis de León, Tomás de Villanueva or San Juan de Sahagún, into a more accessible and attractive tourist resource for the public. Furthermore, the intervention reinforces the tourist offer of Salamanca by linking this space with other emblematic resources of the city, such as the University, the Cathedral, the Clerecía, the Casa de las Conchas or the Cerro de San Vicente site.

The project also seeks to attract new visitors and reduce tourist seasonality, increasing the length of stay and tourist loyalty, while promoting a sustainable tourism model.
