Peñaranda will have an Emergency Nursing Unit after the summer

The Salamanca municipality of Peñaranda will have an Emergency Nursing Unit (UENE), a demand requested by health professionals, after the summer. This was announced during the visit of Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, president of the Junta de Castilla y León, to the town.

The UENE are advanced life support units equipped with nursing staff and health emergency technicians, whose function is to care for emergencies and emergencies in the place where they occur, the stabilization of the patient and the transfer, if necessary, to the most appropriate health center, under a system of activation protocol and action at the scene. In addition, these units have a consulting doctor located in the Professional Emergency Coordination Center who has received specific training for this type of assistance.

Thus, the CCU consulting physician will monitor the incident, establishing its resolution, in line with the procedures, operations and information of the nurse who is providing on-site care, and will take the measures that he considers appropriate depending on the initial situation and the evolution.

For Peñaranda and its region, the creation of this Unit represents a great advance that was already requested in January of this same year by the Union of Transport and Health Emergencies Professionals (SP-TES), since it was considered, from a professional point of view, that it was a necessity for the area.

This new unit adds to the incorporation, two years ago, of the Basic Life Support ambulance, which replaced the previous unit that provided service from the Health Center.
