The subdelegate of the Government in Salamanca denounced for an institutional act in the middle of the electoral campaign

The Subdelegate of the Government in Salamanca, Rosa López, has been reported to the Salamanca Zone Electoral Board for alleged violations of the regulations that govern the electoral contest.

The complaint accuses the Government subdelegate, appointed in July 2024, among others, of participating in acts interpreted as institutional promotion of “achievements”, which would be prohibited during the electoral period.

It should be remembered that the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG) establishes that, from the call of elections until voting day, the authorities must refrain from holding events, inaugurations or presentations of achievements or projects with media impact, to avoid indirect use of resources or public positions for electoral benefit. This includes public presentations that may be perceived as promoting the management of an authority or institution in the middle of the campaign period, as established in article 50 of the LOREG.

The complaint occurs in the middle of the campaign for the regional elections, which will be held this Sunday, March 15.

Among the events indicated in the complaint is an event held on March 9 at the Salamanca Civil Guard Headquarters, in which the Government subdelegate participated in the presentation of new vehicles intended for the service of the Armed Institute in the province.

The complainants consider that this type of public events, in which new means or resources of the Administration are presented during the electoral period, could be interpreted as a dissemination of institutional management, something that the LOREG limits to guarantee the neutrality of the administrations during the campaign.
