The Villamayor City Council has begun work on the new sports area that will be located on municipal land next to the El Salinar soccer field. The machines have already begun to carry out the earthworks necessary to build two tennis courts, two paddle tennis courts, a basketball court and a multi-purpose mini-football field and a rugby field.
These are the first steps to convert the surroundings of the football field into a large sports area that responds to neighborhood demand in a young town, with many families and numerous needs. This work will allow the municipality to have a large sports space that brings together all the facilities necessary to practice numerous sports.

A project that has an investment of 300,000 euros and also includes a pedestrian street that links all the sports areas with the field and a new access.
Added to this work, which will be carried out in the coming months, is the imminent start of the assembly work on the stands of the football field, a project that has been modified so as not to damage the archaeological site that appeared on the land during its first phases.
The construction of this new sports area and the stands will provide a solution to one of the neighbors’ demands and put an end to an improvement project that began eight years ago and that has suffered various setbacks, first with negotiations with the owners of the land and then with the appearance of a Roman site that has meant a pause to proceed with its study and conservation before continuing with the work.
